Mushrooms

We've been getting rain almost every day lately.  It has been a wonderful break from lugging the hose to irrigate the different garden plots.  The rain has given us some juicy tomatoes that have almost split from growing so quickly.  We've had cucumbers doubling in size overnight.  And we've had mushrooms.  Lots of interesting mushrooms popping up all around.  I thought you'd like to see a few.  I have no idea what any of them are.

This one was very delicate, it looked like a dancer's tutu.

This was very furry, velvety.

This mushroom was no bigger than my fingernail.

This fun one was perfectly round.  It looked like a golf ball in the grass.

In the oregano pot.

The best mushroom sighting was years ago when we lived in town.  The boys were small and we came across an Octopus Stinkhorn just as it was opening up, unfurling from its egg shape.  It was a sight to behold.  When you've never seen one before, you think you've come across a very smelly alien being born.  It was just the sort of gross adventure that makes a little boy's day.
