And So It Begins...

Forty something years of dreaming.  Twenty years of waiting, praying, having the answer be no.  So many closed doors and 'not yet'.

But not today.

Today is a new day.

Today is the beginning.

It's not the beginning of our family, or of our dream, or even of our hard work.  We've tried so hard to "bloom where you're planted" on our little piece of suburbia.  But always--always--there was a constant ache for land.

We looked.  We dreamed.  We tried to figure out a way.  We worked to make our 1/3 of an acre into our own mini farm with a garden, some raised beds, fruit trees, mobile chicken tractor, herb garden on the patio.  It was nice and we were thankful.  But still we dreamed.

The chicken tractor my husband and boys built

And then just when we thought it wouldn't happen...along comes the most perfect spot.  We had prayed for at least a couple of acres.

God answered with TWENTY!

The boys surveying the big field

We liked our current house, we've worked hard to make it our own in and out.  We thought that finding a place with land would mean sacrificing a house.  Even the kids were willing to give up their rooms if they had to in order to have land.

The new house looks very similar to our current house...only a little bigger!  Everyone still keeps their own space.  Blessing upon blessing.

One more Wow God moment for this move--and it's a tree.  Always, always I have loved an oak tree. I love an oak tree like a fashionista loves her shoes.  It's my thing.  I've always asked to please have one at my forever farm.  To me, an oak tree says home.

Look what the first thing you see is when you drive up--

My tree!

It's just ONE of the oak trees on the property.  It's a 200 year old beauty.  It's scarred from a lightning strike years before, but it's still thriving.  It's taken life's storms and still stands tall, arms outstretched.  Ready for life.

So are we.

Burnt Oak Farm.

Welcome Home!!!
